Texas Statewide Public Warning System Drill Scheduled for April 2, 2026
The Orange Grove Office of Emergency Management (OEM), in coordination with partners across Texas, will participate in a statewide public warning system drill on April 2, 2026, between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
This exercise is part of a coordinated effort to ensure that emergency alerts reach residents quickly and reliably during real-world incidents.
What to Expect
Residents may receive test messages through one or more of the following systems:
- Be Alert (Everbridge notifications via text/call/email/app)
- Facebook Page
- Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
- NOAA Weather Radio
All messages will be clearly marked as TEST.
Purpose of the Drill
This drill is designed to evaluate how well emergency notifications are delivered using our primary, alternate, and contingency communication strategies, and our staff’s ability to issue these alerts in an accurate and timely manner.
We will not be activating emergency sirens or emergency-only measures during this exercise.
How You Can Help
Your participation is critical to improving our system. After receiving the test message, we ask that you take a brief survey to help us evaluate:
- Delivery method and speed
- Geolocation accuracy
- Preferred communication methods
